Web-based corp members posting system based on area of specialization

Abstract
This research is aimed at designing a web-based corp members posting system
based on area of specialization for NYSC that enables posting officer to upload
corp members information. The National youth service corps (NYSC) is an
organization set by the Nigerian government to involve the country’s graduates
in the development of the country this is known as national service year.
During this service year, corps members are posted to States and communities of
cities far from their state of origin. In the existing NYSC posting system,
corp members are posted to place of primary assignment without considering the
area of specialization of that corps member and also there is no centralized
database system that keeps corps members posing record based on area of
specialization. The aim of the study is to design a Web-based NYSC Posting System
Based on Area of Specialization in other to achieve this, the improve Web-based
Corps Member posting system provides a system where various corps member can be
posted to their place of primary assignment based on their area of
specialization and also to provide a centralized database system that keeps
track of corps member information based on their area of specialization and
their place of primary assignment (PPA) information. The methodology adopted is
Rapid Application Development, both primary and secondary data collection
methods are used during the fact-finding process. Under the primary method we
have the interview and under the secondary method we have web surfing. PHP
(Hypertext Pre-processor) programming language is used to develop dynamic websites
and MYSQL is used for the creation of database. The study works only covers the
development of A Web-based Corps Member Posting System Based on Area of
Specialization. The improved Web-based NYSC posting system based on area of
specialization enables corps members to be posted to their primary place of
assignment based on their field of study. Future work may see the introduction
of biometric technology to authenticate various corps members that has been
posted to their primary assignment place based on area of specialization.
